Bearcats 15U minor clinched the championship over the July 4th weekend in the Music City Freedom classic, defeating Athletics Baseball Association in the Sunday final, capping off a five win weekend.
The Bearcats came out hot, scoring seven runs over the first three innings. In the 4th, the Bearcats offense exploded with a six run frame, with offensive contributions from Reid Munster, Beckett Gage, and Mason Machmueller. The team tallied a total of 13 runs, while surrendering just six.
The Bearcats offense was rolling the entire weekend, with multiple double digit run totals. In elimination games, the offense tallied 10, 12, and 13 runs respectively. The offense was lead by Easton Freeman, who swung to a .750 batting average over six games. Big contributions also came from Cooper Hoffman, Reid Munster, and Jaxson Stangherlin, who all saw their average at or above .500 for the tournament.
Overall, the 15U minor Bearcats see their record creep up to 22-16-1, while sporting a 10-4 record over the past three weekends. The team is seeing contributions up and down the lineup, with players stepping up in big moments and coming through for the team. Coach David Bruinsma notes that the team has done a great job taking team at bats, especially late in games.
Moving forwards, the Bearcats look to ride this wave into the PBLO championship, as they look to repeat as league champs. Catch the championship July 25-27 in Oshawa, Ontario.
